Your personal development comes first
If you want to build and run a successful business, you need to become aware of your own strengths and weaknesses. Personal development and entrepreneurship are closely intertwined. How conscious are you of this fact?

Are you stuck in your comfort zone?
The focus on business growth is a natural part of day-to-day work. But how often do you stop to consider what that means for you personally, and how you should adapt and continue to grow?
Every person carries fears, thoughts, experiences, and perhaps even traumas that can become stumbling blocks on the career path if they remain unacknowledged.
You may know from personal experience that confronting your innermost self is not always easy. We often prefer to stay within our comfort zone. For entrepreneurs – or those who aspire to become one – the comfort zone is, however, a "dangerous" place. It is familiar, it feels safe. But it is also where we stand still.
When you decide that you want to change something in your life, you have to step outside your comfort zone.
You need to face your fears, try new things, take risks and push yourself.
Take time to focus on yourself
As Anthony K. Tjan writes in an issue of the Harvard Business Review, self-awareness helps us assess our own successes and failures. By learning from our mistakes, we gain clarity on what we need from others and seek out people who can complement our abilities.
This self-awareness also enables us to cultivate our emotional intelligence, allowing us to relate more effectively to others and lead with greater impact. In other words, a deep understanding of yourself can lead to greater success whilst also supporting those around you. The latter, in turn, has a positive effect on our sense of purpose and meaning in life.
Closing Thoughts
The truth is that personal development pays off, even if the returns are not always primarily financial. You might improve your communication skills, become a better leader, or build stronger interpersonal relationships. All of this can enhance both your career and your quality of life.
Some people focus on their career first and only engage with personal development later. For others, everything begins with looking inward.
Regardless of how or when the two things converge, one thing remains true: successful people do not hesitate to work on themselves.
